Leading by example
It seems as though in the winter I go into hibernation after the busy summer months and it takes a lot to pull me out. I get into a rut of neglecting to communicate and keep up on the things that are really important to me. This blog being one of them. Here is attempt number two since the new year to get back on track. Wish me luck and don't be afraid to ask me how I'm doing. I may need the push.
A few weeks ago I had the great honor of going on a huge family vacation. My grandparents on my dad's side of the family, took their kids along with their grandchildren to Disney World for a week. They wanted to do something special for their 50th wedding anniversary that they will be celebrating in July. Yes I said 50th!!
What an awesome thing to do. We are so blessed to not only have the opportunity to all go on a vacation together and escape the bellow 0 temps that Michigan was experiencing but to also have such a great example of what a successful marriage looks like.
It is hard for me to wrap my mind around what 50 years would even feel like. After all I have only been alive for 25 so I have a ways to go. Jason and I have been married for 5. Even though these past 5 years have flown by they haven't been a walk in the park. Marriage is hard work. I will be the first to tell you that marriage has taught me how selfish I really am. It takes great communication, patience, understanding, forgiveness and the list goes on. I believe that the number one thing to a successful marriage is a relationship with God.
My grandparents are some of the most Godly people I have know. Both sides of my family oozes God's love. I am beyond blessed. What a great example.
Grandma & Grandpa Kleinhardt,
The example that you have been to your children, grandchildren, families and community is one that I can only dream of leaving. Your unconditional love is something that is very rare in the world today. Your love for the Lord gleams about you and I admire your courage to let it shine. The gift of this unforgettable trip was very much appreciated and treasured but the gift of your example in our lives is priceless. Let's start planning for your 75th!
Love your oldest granddaughter,
