I have a case of the Mondays. There is so much to be done but somehow it's already 3:30 in the afternoon and I have managed to get nothing done other than editing these photos that I am about to share with you. Since it's the only thing (that wasn't even on my list) that I have gotten accomplished today I felt the need to share.
This last week was a busy one as everyone prepared for Thanksgiving, survived the holiday and did their Black Friday shopping. Which seems to contradict the meaning of being Thankful but that's a topic for another day. Normally the day after Thanksgiving is the day we cut our Christmas tree. This year we went up north to Bois Blanc Island where my parents own a little cabin in the woods (similar to Laura Ingalls). It was the last weekend for the ferry and many of the property owners won't return now until spring. It's bittersweet leaving such a relaxing place but the promise of warmer weather again in a few months is exciting.
Here are a few of my favorite moments from our weekend on BBI:
-Listening to Uncle Greg play us some Chris Stapleton on the mandolin. Mom and I were able to join in with the ukuleles.
-I enjoyed some educational reading. No, I am not feeling ill.
-Photographing nature. It's something I don't normally do much of.
-Walking along Lake Huron in the chilly air. Fresh air is good for the soul.
-Searching for the perfect Christmas tree.
-Spending quality time with my nephew of a hound dog. He's smelly and slobbery but those eyes melt my heart.
Thank you Michigan for all of your beauty.
